Pasture-raised, gathered before breakfast. Brown shells, deep orange yolks.
Our laying flock spends the day in the orchard — scratching for grubs under the apple trees, dust-bathing in the sun, picking at clover and the bug life that comes with it. They go in the coop at dusk and lay through the morning. Whatever you take home was laid that day, sometimes still warm.
The yolks are darker than what you find at the store because of what the hens actually eat. They scramble fluffier, the whites stand taller in the pan, and a fried egg on toast looks like a sunrise. We don't wash the bloom off, so they keep on the counter for a week or in the fridge for a month.
Sold by the dozen in a paper carton you can return to us next time. If you swing by during chore time, the kids might walk you out to the coop to meet the hens — most of them have names.
Fresh goods are pickup-only — they don’t love a delivery van.
